Your privacy is important to us. illico Book is designed to keep your financial data private, secure, and under your control at all times.

1. Who we are

illico Book ("we", "our", "us") is an accounting software platform operated by illico AS & TC, LLC, a Maryland limited liability company, accessible at illicobook.com. We provide bookkeeping, invoicing, inventory, and financial reporting tools for small businesses worldwide.

For any privacy-related questions, contact us at: info@illicobook.com

2. What data we collect

Account data

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash). We also collect your business name, industry, currency preference, and language setting.

Financial data

We store the financial records you create — transactions, invoices, inventory items, client records, budgets, and recurring entries. This data belongs to you.

Usage data

We may collect basic analytics such as pages visited and features used to improve the product. We do not sell this data to advertisers.

Bank statement imports

When you upload a PDF or CSV bank statement, it is processed locally in your browser. The raw file is never uploaded to our servers. Only the extracted transaction data (dates, amounts, descriptions) may be synced to your account.

3. How we use your data

  • To provide and operate the illico Book service
  • To sync your data across devices via our secure cloud
  • To send you service notifications (billing, security alerts)
  • To improve our product based on aggregated, anonymised usage patterns
  • To comply with legal obligations where required

We do not use your financial data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties. Ever.

4. Data storage and location

Your data is stored in two places:

  • Locally in your browser — via localStorage, immediately accessible offline
  • In the cloud — via our secure cloud database, synced automatically in the background

Our primary cloud infrastructure is located in the United States and/or European Union depending on region. We select hosting providers that comply with international data protection standards.

5. Data sharing

We do not sell your data. We share data only with:

  • Secure cloud database — for encrypted cloud storage of your data
  • Stripe — our payment processor, for subscription billing (card payments only)
  • Mobile money operators — only when you initiate a payment through MTN MoMo, Orange Money, M-Pesa, or other supported providers
  • Law enforcement — only when legally required by a valid court order

6. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access all your data at any time (Settings → Export CSV)
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Export your data in CSV format
  • Withdraw consent and close your account

To delete your account and all data permanently, go to Settings → Danger Zone → Reset all data, then contact us at info@illicobook.com to confirm full server-side deletion.

7. Cookies

illico Book uses minimal browser storage (localStorage) to keep you logged in and save your preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. We may use basic analytics cookies to understand how the product is used.

8. Children's privacy

illico Book is not intended for users under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us immediately.
